Maths

Intent

Our mathematics curriculum is ambitious, inclusive and designed to ensure that all pupils develop fluency, reasoning and problem‑solving skills. Drawing on the White Rose mastery approach, we aim for every child-including those who require additional support-to develop deep conceptual understanding and confidence in using mathematics in everyday life.

Implementation

Maths learning is sequenced carefully across all year groups, enabling knowledge to build cumulatively. Teachers provide concrete, pictorial and abstract representations to support accessibility and deepen understanding. Regular retrieval practice and opportunities to revisit essential knowledge ensure secure long‑term retention. Inclusive strategies such as pre-teaching, structured scaffolding and targeted challenge support full participation.

Impact

Pupils become fluent mathematicians who can reason confidently and solve increasingly complex problems. They demonstrate perseverance, accuracy and enjoyment in their learning. Outcomes show that pupils secure key knowledge and are well‑prepared for the mathematical demands of the next stage of education.
