Science
Intent
Our science curriculum nurtures curiosity, critical thinking and a secure understanding of the world. We believe every child can achieve in science and tailor experiences to value diverse backgrounds and needs. Using themes such as habitats, materials and forces, our intent is for pupils to become independent investigators who can question, explore and understand scientific phenomena.
Implementation
A carefully sequenced progression of knowledge ensures pupils revisit and build on scientific concepts year on year. Practical enquiry is prioritised, providing inclusive opportunities for hands‑on exploration and collaborative working. Vocabulary is explicitly taught and reinforced across units. Teachers adapt models, tasks and apparatus to ensure all pupils can engage meaningfully and safely.
Impact
Pupils develop secure scientific knowledge, the ability to work scientifically and confidence in explaining their thinking. They show enthusiasm for investigation and can apply their learning to new contexts. Pupils leave with the scientific literacy needed for future study and everyday decision‑making.
