Specialist Resource Based Provision

Watling Meadows Primary School Specialist Resource Based Provision

Watling Meadows Primary School is proud to be developing a new Specialist Resource Based Provision (SRP), designed in line with Warwickshire County Council’s approach to Specialist Resourced Provision. Our SRP will be a Communication and Interaction (C&I) Base, supporting children with communication and interaction needs, including autistic spectrum conditions and speech, language and communication needs, as outlined by Warwickshire’s SEND Local Offer.

The provision will offer up to 14 places, introduced through a staggered entry to ensure that each child’s transition is carefully planned and rooted in their individual strengths, needs and readiness. Pupils placed in the SRP will have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), and placements will be agreed through Warwickshire County Council’s High Needs Provision Panel.

At Watling Meadows, the SRP is fully integrated into the life of the school. Children within the provision will benefit from a nurturing environment with specialist staff, smaller group learning and tailored resources—elements recognised by Warwickshire County Council as central to effective SRP practice.

A key aim of our SRP is to support children in engaging successfully with mainstream learning, with reintegration handled gradually, sensitively and at a pace that suits each individual. Warwickshire guidance highlights that time spent in mainstream classes will vary depending on each child’s needs, ranging from short, supported sessions to extended curriculum involvement. We will follow this principle closely, helping pupils build confidence, independence and a sense of belonging.

Our approach will draw on making learning accessible and ensuring children feel understood, valued and well-supported. We aim to create an inclusive, welcoming community where every child thrives—socially, emotionally and academically.

Parents and carers considering a place at Watling Meadows can expect a warm partnership with the school. We work closely with families at every stage, recognising the vital role they play in their child’s success.
