Our Curriculum at Watling Meadows

At Watling Meadows Primary School, our curriculum is designed to provide a rich, ambitious and engaging education that enables every child to nurture, grow and aspire.

Reading & Phonics

Reading is at the heart of our curriculum.

We use the DfE-approved Bug Club phonics scheme to ensure:

  • Clear, structured progression in early reading
  • Consistency between home and school
  • Rapid development of phonics knowledge and fluency

We aim for every child to:

  • Become a confident, fluent reader
  • Develop a love of books and storytelling
  • Use reading to access the full curriculum
